Privatisation of Enforcement of Financial Penalties

I appreciate this is a sensitive issue, but the Government takes the recovery and enforcement of financial impositions very seriously and is committed to finding new ways of ensuring impositions are paid and to trace those who cannot or will not pay. I understand that HM Court and Tribunal Service has not made any decisions regarding future enforcement agency contracts.

Ministers are currently engaging with providers to ensure all options are considered, in order to continue delivering this important service. A key consideration will be to ensure better value for money, increase the amount of financial impositions that are paid and in turn ensure that orders of court are enforced effectively.
