Banning harmful pesticides to protect our bees

Today, the Environment Secretary Michael Gove, has backed new restrictions on pesticides that have been shown to be harmful to bees. With further scientific evidence showing that neonicotinoid pesticides are harmful to bees and other pollinators, it is great news that Michael Gove is taking action to save our pollinator populations.

Michael Gove has written for the Guardian today saying that “without a healthy pollinator population we put the whole ecological balance of our world in danger…it is our responsibility to hand it on to the next generation in a better state.

In another piece in today’s Guardian, Friends of the Earth’s chief executive Crag Bennett, has praised the move by the Environment Secretary stating that, “Michael Gove is to be congratulated for listening to the experts on this issue and backing tougher restrictions.”
