As a diesel driver, I am concerned about potential extra costs to being a diesel driver.
My understanding is that the Government will continue to explore the appropriate tax treatment for diesel vehicles, and will engage with stakeholders ahead of making any tax changes at Autumn Budget 2017. I know that the Prime Minister is very conscious of the fact that past governments have encouraged people to buy diesel cars, and Ministers will take this into account when they look at what to do in the future.
I am sorry that I cannot say more at this time but we will need to wait and see whether or not the government will move in another direction. I will watch this closely, as it affects both me and the many constituents who have got in touch with me on this issue.
