MP and Councillor meet the Seagulls ahead of public meeting
East Worthing and Shoreham MP, Tim Loughton, and Lancing Councillor, Andy Barnes, last week met the Chief Executive or Brighton & Hove Albion, Martin Perry, along with other senior managers of the club at the Amex stadium.
They were there to hear updates about the Seagulls’ plans to build a new training facility and football academy on Adur Council owned land behind Mash Barn.
Andy, who has been representing the views of various local groups, was keen to raise concerns around issues such as the impact on traffic access for residents, gardens, noise, times of use and floodlighting. Together with other councillors, Tim has also been speaking to residents and has been on several site visits to see the potential impact of the proposals.
As a result, Tim and Andy have organised a public meeting to talk to Lancing residents either if they are in favour of the proposals or not. The meeting takes place on Saturday 3 March, 2PM at Lancing Tabernacle, North Road, Lancing, BN15 9BB where there will be representatives from Brighton & Hove to answer questions.
Tim commented:
This is a prestigious development in prospect for Lancing and would be a real feather in our cap if the Seagulls were to come to Adur. However, I fully appreciate that there are a number of concerns residents have about the impact on the residential area, which has lived next to what has been a stretch of vacant and undeveloped piece of land for many years. If it is to go ahead, it is vital that my constituents should have their concerns and questions addressed and I am grateful, therefore, that Andy Barnes and other councillors have agreed to help me post this public meeting, which does just that.
