Tim to Twitter
East Worthing & Shoreham MP Tim Loughton will be tweeting on twitter from the Worthing ice rink when it opens again this Saturday (January 30th). He is particularly keen to hear from younger constituents with their views on the ice rink and other improvements they would like to see for young people in Worthing and Adur. This also links into a video podcast on the Telltim.co.uk website where there is a survey for people to give their views.
Tim will also be tweeting in response to the first of the documentary programmes 'Tower Block of Commons' goes out
on Channel 4 on Monday February 1st at 9pm, where Tim is one of four MPs who are sent to live on inner city council estates with a film crew following their experiences. Tim spent eight days on the Newtown estate in Birmingham last August 'sofa surfing' between three hosts who put him up on floors and sofas during his stay. This was followed by a further visit to Birmingham in October where Tim was able to follow through on some of the projects he had initiated. During his stay he was living on jobseekers allowance, went out with gang members and drug dealers, worked in pub, learnt how to cage fight and recorded a rap song amongst other things. The programme is set to go out in four hourly episodes on Monday nights starting on February 1st.
Tim commented:
"The tower block programme was one of the hardest tasks I have ever faced. Being followed around by a camera crew from 7.30 in the morning until 1am at night was very intensive whilst trying to strike up a relationship with people living in very difficult conditions. It was a long way from Worthing and Shoreham but many of the challenges my constituents face were reflected in the experiences of people there. It was a great exercise though and I hope that from this programme people will see what MPs really get up to and appreciate how communities can work with their elected representatives to bring about changes rather than just opt out of the system.'
