Tim Loughton MP to visit Libya and lay wreath on British war graves
East Worthing and Shoreham MP, Tim Loughton, is asking local people who lost relatives in North Africa during the Second World War if they would like him to check on their graves at Tobruk when he visits Libya on a forthcoming parliamentary trip.
Later this month East Worthing and Shoreham MP, Tim Loughton, will be part of a cross-party parliamentary delegation visiting Libya. Organised by the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the delegation will meet various political and business leaders to promote better relations between Libya and the British parliamentarians at this sensitive time.
In addition, Tim and his colleagues will be visiting the war cemetery at Tobruk which was the scene of fierce fighting during the Second World War where they will lay a wreath and be part of a commemoration cemetery.
Commenting Tim said:
‘I am pleased that it has been possible to find time in the schedule to pay our respects at Tobruk and to commemorate the sacrifice made by members of the Allied Forces in 1941 and 1942. I am very keen to honour individually any local people and would be delighted to lay flowers and take photos for any family in the constituency whose loved ones are buried there.’
