Tim Loughton: Time to Recycle the Alchemist Store Van
East Worthing MP Tim Loughton rolled his sleeves up to look under the bonnet of the delivery van used by the Alchemist Scrap Store in Meadow Road Worthing which is now over 12 years old and in desperate need of replacing. He joined the manager of the recycling project Paul Elleston to launch an appeal to replace the ageing van which is vital to the future of the project and is used regularly for collecting items donated to the environmental charity project. The Alchemist Scrap Store has been running since 1990 and is a popular destination for schools and community groups and the like who use waste products that would otherwise have gone into landfill.
Tim commented:
‘The Alchemist Scrap Store is a fantastic charity which has run on a shoestring over many years due to the hard work and dedication of Paul Elleston and his team. It presses all the right environmental buttons, teaching young people to be environmentally conscious and creative and saving tons of waste products going into landfill. Paul has been a regular contributor to the EYE (Eco, young and engaged) Project and we should be doing everything we can to help this project expand. The van is a vital part of the business and it has been on its last legs for some time. Paul needs offers of money or sponsorship to pay for a replacement van or if anyone has a suitable vehicle in running order then we would love to hear from them.’
