Chester Avenue Meeting
On Friday 21st September over fifty Lancing residents attended a meeting called for by the new Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinator Ms Rosemary Joseph.
Ms Joseph presented East Worthing and Shoreham MP Tim Loughton with a petition signed by over 100 residents which called for traffic calming measures and action on anti-social behaviour.
The meeting was also attended by Barry Candy, the Highway Manager for Worthing and Adur from West Sussex County Council, who presented detailed traffic and speed figures from a survey taken from Chester Avenue in July. The meeting was also attended by Inspector Phil Nicholas of the West Downs Road Policing Unit who advised local residents on how to report repeat offenders. Also present were Lancing Parish Council Chairman Angie Mills and Adur District Councillor Carson Albury who offered to look into the possibility of extra signage and road markings.
Tim, who organised and chaired the meeting, commented:
"It was a good opportunity to get feedback and discuss how to carry forward ideas which would improve the problems experienced by local residents.
"Ms Joseph should be congratulated for organising such a worthwhile petition and for helping me to co-ordinate the meeting."
