Calling young people to play Midnight Football - last pilot session on 22nd September
Local MP Tim Loughton is encouraging all boys and girls aged between 13-17 years who like playing sport to come along and play Midnight Football this Saturday from 10pm-midnight at Southwick Leisure Centre.
The evening follows hot on the heels of two similar events this summer where girls and boys have enjoyed playing football for free with coaches and volunteers from local services. Young people will also be able to play basketball during the occasion.
This Saturday is the last Midnight Football pilot session and later this Autumn those involved in running it will meet to discuss the viability of making a regular event for local kids.
East Worthing and Adur MP Tim Loughton, who set up the initiative, commented:
"This is a great opportunity for young people, who might otherwise be hanging round on the streets late at night, to get together over the weekend in a safe environment and do what many of them enjoy the most - play sport!
"Whether they fancy themselves as the next David Beckham or Magic Johnson or just want to have a kick about or shoot some hoops they should come on down to the Leisure Centre this Saturday. At the last session there was a great game when the youngsters took on the local police. "
