Ops Note: Southwick Square Street Surgery
This Saturday 3rd November 10am-midday local Southwick Councillors Julie Searle, Janet Mockridge and Jim Funell will be joined by East Worthing and Shoreham MP Tim Loughton for a special street surgery in Southwick Square. Photographers welcome.
During the surgery Tim and the local Councillors present will launch a petition to save the No9 bus service which is under threat. At present, the service runs every hour from Littlehampton to Southwick Square. As from December 9th Stagecoach is threatening to terminate the service at Holmbush.
The 'Save Our Bus Service' petition has been drawn up by Cllr Julie Searle and is supported by all six Southwick councillors.
The street surgery will also be a final opportunity for people to sign the KWASH petition to save Worthing and Southlands Hospitals.
Tim commented:
"I am alarmed about the effect this change will have on my constituents - in particular the elderly population who rely on Stagecoach to get to the shops in Southwick.
"I urge local residents who share my concerns to come and sign this petition on Saturday. Stagecoach must listen to local needs and local voices.
"I will also be available during the street surgery to constituents who want to raise any other local or national political issues with me."
