MP opens post office shock!

On April 2nd I notched up a first. Rather than presenting petitions and campaigning against the closure of sub-post offices around Adur and Worthing I actually opened one, or re-opened one to be precise. After 15 months closed to the public the Lyndhurst Road post office in East Worthing is now open again under a new sub-postmistress Sandra Kawick. I was delighted to perform the ribbon cutting in front of local residents delighted that this much used facility is up and running again. I was also helped by a curious larger than life bright red Giant Daddy Ant, which is apparently the post office's pet logo these days though what it says about the speed of the mail I don't know character.

MP opens post office shock!

This is great news for local residents who campaigned hard to have the post office restored and thanks are due to the post office for keeping their promise to find new tenants to run the branch. The alternative of walking long distances to find another post office branch has proved a real problem, particularly for older people, and when you do get there you are met by queues streaming out of the doors in any case. This is a lifeline to local people and local businesses so let's make sure we use it and make Sandra and her staff feel welcome.
