Tim supports Stop AIDS Campaign

On World AIDS Day on 1st December, East Worthing and Shoreham MP Tim Loughton visited the Stop AIDS campaigners on an old red double-decker bus kitted out with photos of the faces of thousands of Stop AIDS campaigners who were lobbying Parliament to continue their commitment to addressing the problem of HIV/AIDS which effects approximately 58,300 adults in the UK.
Tim commented:
"The AIDS pandemic has claimed over 3 million lives this year, including those of over half a million children. 40 million people, some in the world's poorest countries, are living with this dreadful disease - most of them without treatment. Deaths on this scale are equivalent to a jumbo jet crash every hour of every day of the year.
"I visited the AIDS bus earlier this week and heard what campaigners are doing to raise awareness of the transmission of the disease and to ensure that those suffering its consequences have access to drugs that will lessen their pain and lengthen their lives. I am delighted to be supporter of the Stop AIDS campaign as it works with multinationals, Government and other countries to fight for all the world's citizens to have greater knowledge and treatment of HIV/AIDS."
