Tim wants warmer homes for everyone this Winter

Three million homes in the UK cannot afford to heat their homes to adequate levels and this has led East Worthing and Shoreham MP Tim Loughton to support the Warm Homes Campaign to find solutions to fuel poverty.

The campaign is run by the National Energy Action Charity (NEA) which is prompting schemes such as Warm Front, which provide heating and insulation improvements to ensure that the home is adequately and affordable heated.

Tim commented:

"This year's campaign is particularly important as it comes in a period of continuing rises in domestic energy prices. The Met office is predicting that this Winter will be the coldest since 1995/96 and that year there were almost 44,000 excess deaths compared to 30,000 excess Winter deaths in an average year.

"More than 90% of excess Winter deaths occur in the pensioner population and as East Worthing and Adur has a remarkably high number of elderly people we must ensure that we all take particular care of ourselves and our loved ones over the coming months."
