Tim launches Sussex Archaeological Exhibition

In August Tim Loughton MP launched the Sussex viewing of the Portable Antiquities Scheme at Marlipins Museum, Shoreham. Tim is an archaeologist in his own right and a powerful advocate for the Scheme in Parliament.

The theme of the exhibition is medieval objects, some of which come from sites in Shoreham and others from further a field such as Steyning and Henfield. The Curators of both those museums attended the Private View, along with Cllr. Brian Coomber of Adur DC and representatives of the West Sussex Library Service, the Record Office, detectorists, amateur archaeologists, Sussex Archaeological Society representatives and many more.

Tim commented:

'This exhibition is a rare opportunity for people to see objects from private collections which help us to build up a picture of our past.'
