Tim encourages people to raise their mugs for Macmillian
East Worthing & Shoreham MP Tim Loughton is calling on local people to raise money for a cancer charity by attending coffee mornings and donating money for every cup of coffee they drink. The coffee mornings will take place across the country on Friday 30th September and are coordinated by Macmillan Cancer Relief.
To participate in the world's biggest coffee morning, all people need to do is put the kettle on and invite their family, friends or colleagues to join them for a cup of coffee. The idea is for people to donate a sum of money for every cup of coffee they drink. 2005 will be the fifteenth year that Macmillan have held the world's biggest coffee morning event and to date, over £30 million has been raised.
Tim says:
'Macmillan Cancer Relief do an excellent job of supporting those who have cancer and researching innovations in cancer care. However, 739 people are diagnosed with cancer every day and Macmillan does not have the resources to assist everyone needing their help.
Taking a coffee break at work or inviting your friends around for a coffee morning is an easy and fun way for all of us to raise money that will go directly to helping those whose lives have been devastated by cancer. I know that this year Macmillan are aiming to break their record and raise £6m in donations and this is why I am encouraging local people to raise their coffee mugs on 30th September.'
