It's Pedal-tastic as Tim cycles to Westminster with the Parliamentary Cycling Group
Tim Loughton MP for East Worthing and Shoreham together with West Worthing MP Peter Bottomley today donned their cycling helmets and joined other health and environmentally conscious MP?s during a two mile cycle ride from the West End to Westminster in support of Bike Week.
Both Peter and Tim are members of the All Party Parliamentary Cycling group which includes members from both the House of Lords and the House of Commons and exists to promote the greater use of bicycles and to raise the profile and status of cycling both inside and outside the House.
Tim Loughton commented:
'Too many of us lead sedentary lifestyles and this compounded with high fat diets can lead to heart disease and obesity in later life. If more people cycled to work instead of using cars or mopeds, we would not only improve the health of the nation, but we would also improve the state of the environment.'
