Loughton welcomes WSPA move to promote animal friendly tourism
Following the initiative taken by the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) to promote animal friendly travel by offering people ideas about how to stop the exploitation of animals, Tim Loughton MP for East Worthing and Shoreham today offered his full support.
Instead of feeling powerless when faced with animal cruelty, WSPA suggests being pro-active through documenting any animal cruelty witnessed, making complaints to the local police and the local tourist office and boycotting events which cause suffering, such as animal circuses, animal shows or aquaria.
Tim Loughton commented:
?For too long, thousands of animals have suffered from cruelty in tourist attractions, purely for money making schemes. Instead of ignoring clear examples of exploitation, tourists should confront what is going on and do their bit to protect animals worldwide. Through the suggestions outlined by the WSPA, people can make an enormous difference and I hope people will now be more willing to get involved to put an end to animal cruelty.
