Christmas Article
It must be me getting old but 2004 seems to have gone incredibly quickly and it is time to review the year and write the Christmas cards. Before we settle down to defy all the Government?s pronouncements on obesity in the comfort of our centrally heated homes during the Christmas festivities, let us reflect on the troubled parts of the world not least Iraq and Sudan where we hope for a more peaceful 2005. It is right that we pay tribute to our many brave professionals and voluntary workers who will be spending the holiday far away from their families striving to bring the peace and prosperity that we take for granted in the West.
Amidst the political turmoil around the world in 2004 we have good reason to be proud of the progress we have made in Worthing and Adur. As Ropetackle rises impressively from the ashes in Shoreham and exciting plans to regenerate the town are underway in Worthing we can look forward to 2005 with confidence. 2005 is also the international year of the volunteer and I know that many of my constituents will again be playing a full role in contributing much to help strengthen communities both at home and abroad. I thank all those who have done so much for others this year and encourage more people to get involved next year. And I would particularly like to thank all my constituents who continue to make my job such an enjoyable and worthwhile one and wish everyone a enjoyable and (moderately) indulgent Christmas and peaceful New Year.
