Loughton's Dozen: Number 3...
Give us a bypass
People in Worthing & Adur have been campaigning for over 30 years to get a bypass around Worthing/Lancing. Over that time thousands of extra houses have been built to make Worthing the largest town in Sussex whilst traffic on the A27 is gridlocked and forecast to rise by a further 23% over the next 15 years.
Tim and Peter Bottomley are trying to start a new initiative involving local businesses and business groups to emphasise to Ministers the detrimental effect that traffic congestion on the A27 is now having on business investment in the area let alone the chaos caused for local residents. It's time to look at our bypass again seriously Minister.
In the meantime Tim has been working with residents in the Broadwater and Offington areas of Worthing to get the Highways Agency to review the changes they brought in a couple of years ago which involved the controversial installing of traffic lights on the A27 at the Grove Lodge roundabout.
Tim launched a podcast on his www.telltim.co.uk website and is passing the findings on to the Highways Agency and further public meetings are planned.
