Eco Summit
On Tuesday the 3rd May, the fourth annual Eco Summit kicked off which was busier than ever. There were around 200 children from schools in Worthing and Adur who were ready to make a difference and help protect our environment. The annual Eco summit is part of the wider initiative, E.Y.E Project (Eco Young Engaged), which I founded to help schools educate their pupils on how important it is to be environmentally responsible. The project’s website, www.eyeproject.co.uk , is a hub for schools and pupils to share their ideas.
I was delighted to see the level of enthusiasm and engagement that the children showed during the course of the day and that was credit to some excellent workshops which were put on by various individuals and businesses. The lessons taught the children about alternative energy sources and how they can reduce their carbon footprint with the simplest of changes. The children were kept interested by some excellent activities such as flying kites and making giant animals out of used plastic bags.
The summit was a great success and I am certain that the children learnt some valuable lessons and will continue to do their bit in protecting our climate.
I would like to thank all those involved in making the day happen and I am looking forward to seeing the progress made at next year’s summit.
